Energetic Beethoven

Richard Tognetti, violinist and leader of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, performs the third movement of Beethoven‘s Violin Sonata in A, “Kreutzer”, arranged by Tognetti for string orchestra.

Notice the players (except the cellists) are standing. A violinist can play much more energetically in this position as you will see from the amount energy generated in this performance. You can also see the positions of the instruments, bow holds and fingers. This is the technique that helps you play well!
